Admission to library
The Library seeks to primarily serve Africa University community as follows:
i. Students (conventional, non-conventional, part-time and distance learners).
ii. Staff (academic staff, administrative and junior staff; visiting staff).
The Library has 4 computer clusters, totalling 36 computers, which are dedicated for academic research purpose. This includes searching the WebPAC (Catalogue), AUDil, the Internet for Academic purposes and DVD / CD-ROMs based educational databases.
Library clients shall be allowed to borrow Library resources using the Online Circulation system as outlined below:
i. Each new student enrolling at the University shall be required to register with the Library by presenting a valid Africa University Student Identity Card / Proof of Registration and by completing a Library Registration Form.
In line with its mission statement to "equip the academic community with the skills necessary to exploit Library resources", the Library offers various training sessions to students and staff throughout the academic year.
a) Information Literacy Skills
All first Year Undergraduate and Graduate students in all Colleges are required to attend Library registration and Information Literacy Skills (ILS) training at notified times upon University registration.
The Jokomo / Yamada Library has a sitting capacity for 200 Client designed for conducive studying (research). It includes; individual reading carrels, group tables, comfortable easy chairs, and a newspaper and magazine reading area.
Other Library Services
Library clients stand to benefit from a 13 hour manned Enquiries Desk. The Enquiries Desk is the clients' first pot of call for many issues surrounding the world of information. The desk handles general to specific clients' requests and is also a good referral point to various Library products, services and staff.
